The Sanford High School Travel Abroad Program (SHS Abroad) has rescheduled their highly anticipated Ice Skate Social “FUNdraiser” for Saturday, Feb. 12 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at West Brook Skating Rink in Biddeford. This outdoor skating rink is located off Pool Street or can be inputted into your GPS as 1 Columbus Way, Biddeford.

This fundraiser is open to students, staff and the Sanford community. SHS Abroad is charging $10 at the door for students and adults, and is charging $5 for children under 10.

Live music will be played while friends, families and Valentine’s couples will skate under the lights. SHS Abroad students will be working the DJ Booth and will take $1 song requests or $5 “Skip the Line” requests.

The snack shack will be open to sell hot foods like pizza and hotdogs as well as drinks like Gatorade, water and hot chocolate. The rink provides some options for skate rentals but is limited (based on donations), so it is based on first-come, first-served.

All entry fees will go directly toward SHS Abroad, which is raising money for transportation to get them to and from the airport for their trip to Italy in 2023.

The money made at the snack shack goes toward West Brook Skating Rink, a non-profit organization that survives solely on donations. Fiber Materials, Inc., a local aerospace company, is covering the rink rental cost for SHS Abroad.

Editor’s note: Our newspaper advisor is also the advisor of SHS Abroad. Any school clubs who wish to advertise their upcoming events and fundraisers are encouraged to reach out to spartan-times@sanford.org and we will post to our “Just for Fun” section!
