Celebrities walked the Met Gala Red Carpet: Who understood the assignment?
BY AZLINE MAURAIS, STAFF WRITER
The Met Gala was held on May 2, 2022, and took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, New York. Many celebrities were invited to attend the event in celebration of the museum’s new art exhibition, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion”.
The theme of the night was Gilded Glamour, the type of dress that represents the late 1800s fashion from a modern perspective. The official co-chairs for this year were Blake Lively and husband Ryan Reynolds, Regina King, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Below are my top 12 favorite and top 10 least favorite looks that followed – or completely missed – the theme of the Met Gala!
All images are from Vogue Magazine.
Top Looks from the Night
12. Chloe Grace Moretz in Louis Vuitton

Love this look, especially the bedazzled blazer. Definitely knew the assignment.
11. Evan Mock in Head of State

Now this look is amazing, it is serving 1800s vibes with the corset and the collar. It is on POINT!
10. Pete Davidson in Dior Men and Kim Kardashian in vintage Jean Louis Gown

Now, Pete Davidson’s look isn’t standing out for me, but he is with Kim Kardashian so it’s an exception. Kim Kardashian is in THE dress Marilyn Monroe wore to JFK’s birthday event so I had to include it in the Top Ten (sorry, not sorry).
9. Megan Thee Stallion in Mochino and Cardi B in Versace

Megan Thee Stallion is a goddess, enough said. Cardi B serves every time and I am here for it. LOVE!
8. Anitta in Jeremy Scott

The purple gown and the pearls are giving everything for me and I love it. This gown is elegant and it fits the theme.
7. Emma Chamberlain in Louis Vuitton

First of all this look is stunning and second of all, she wore a tiara. Beautiful, moving on.
6. Kid Kudi in Kenzo

Am I speechless? Yes, yes I am because this SERVES. Ate the whole meal and some crumbs left over with this look.
5. David Harbour and Lily Allen

I can’t stop looking at David Harbour’s suit because it represents Gilded Glamour so well. He understood the assignment and then some.
4. Dove Cameron in Iris Van Herpen and Billie Eilish inn Oscar de la Renta

I honestly couldn’t decide which one I loved more so I decided to include both. Dove Cameron is literally wearing the BONES of a dress, I am obsessed. I can’t describe how much I love Billie Eilish’s look, what’s not to love?
3. Normani in Christian Siriano

Stunning, obsessed, beautiful, perfect, gorgeous. Do I have to go on?
2. Lizzo in Thom Browne

I can’t begin to describe how much Lizzo was SERVING at the Met Gala. Absolutely perfect in every way. I will be dreaming about this look for the rest of my life.
1. Blake Lively in Versace

Not only was she 100% on theme, but she had a surprise dress transformation! I am so obsessed with this look it’s embarrassing. Her looks were reportledy inspired from the Statue of Liberty and other New York architectual wonders. She continues to surprise everyone with her brilliant and creative looks.
Least Favorite Looks
10. Eve Jobs in Louis Vuitton

What is this you ask? Yeah I don’t know either. Moving on immediately.
9. Gwen Stefani in Vera Wang

Is she a key lime pie? I am so confused, a hit and a miss for me.
8. Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz-Beckham

This isn’t even close to being on theme and who even are they? I have nothing else to say about this.
7. Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker

This look was so awful I had to step away from my computer for a solid 20 minutes.
6. Avani Gregg in Bach Mai

I don’t like this at all. Looks like the designers just found some scraps of fabric and glued them together.
5. Niki Minaj in Burberry

WHAT IS THIS? NO. I despise this.
4. Bad Bunny in Burberry

I am sad to say that this look is actually on theme, but I have to include it in my least favorites because it looks awful.
3. Kodi Smit-McPhee

I am physically cringing, this is so bad.
2. Kylie Jenner

I have to look away because it is so bad. Are you going to a baseball game or wedding? Make up your mind Kylie.
1. Emily Ratajkowski in Versace

Who decided that this would be the perfect dress to wear to the Met Gala? I want to know so I can have a serious conversation with them.
