Thanksgiving foods will be collected through Nov. 18; students will donate to compete for a prize for their class

The Sanford High School Peer Helpers are hosting their annual Thanksgiving food drive until Nov. 18 to support 40 Sanford families.
Large boxes have been placed outside the main office for students and families to donate items. Each grade has been “assigned” a food item to donate:
- Class of 2026: Instant Mashed Potatoes
- Class of 2025: Gravy and Cranberry Sauce
- Class of 2024: Canned Vegetables
- Class of 2023: Stuffing

The food drive is held as a school-wide competition to encourage student involvement and giving back. The class that donates the most food items will win a movie in the Sanford Performing Arts Center.
“Sanford high school is stoked for stuffing, crazy for cran, and grateful for gravy,” said Beth Letourneau, Peer Helpers Advisor.
Letourneau also shared that she’s very happy to help the families in our community be able to celebrate the holiday and would appreciate it if students and families would also help by donating the assigned food.
The Peer Helpers received 40 turkeys donated by the Sanford Chamber of Commerce and are grateful to Marc Motors for their monetary donation.
If you have any questions regarding the food drive, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Letourneau at bletourneau@sanford.org.
