SHS and Wells/Ogunquit come together to build community and holiday spirit

On Sunday, Dec. 11 the SHS Marching Band participated in the Wells Christmas Parade. SHS spent the day with the Wells High School band to build community connections and continue using music to help others get into the holiday spirit.
To kick off the chilly, 27-degree day, the two bands played a few rounds of dodgeball before having lunch together (sponsored by the Wells/Ogunquit music boosters and the Sanford Music Boosters).
The groups then made their way to the start of the parade, where the two groups combined for the first time to perform the national anthem.
“This was the first time we heard the two groups play, and we were blown away by the powerful sound they produced,” said SHS Band Director Hailey Francoeur.

After kicking off the parade, the bands went their separate ways to march through the parade.
In the end, they reunited for some hot cocoa and got a group photo.

“Students were able to form new connections with our new friends from Wells,” said Francoeur. “Wells competes in the MBDA circuit with us, and this was a wonderful opportunity to make friends that we will see again in the fall at competitions.”
