Spring Sports kicked off just before school vacation. We’ve got the recap over the last week and a half of contests.

On Friday, April 21, Sanford defeated Windham in their season and home opener 3-2. Ben Gill pitched a six-hitter, and Tyler Sevigny had two hits and a run scored. Tanner McCann drove in two runs and Scott Long had an RBI single for Sanford, which totaled just three hits but took advantage of four Windham errors.
The Spartans have a busy week post-vacation with games on Tuesday, April 25 against Scarborough at Goodall Park (4:30 p.m.), Thursday April 27 at Kennebunk (4 p.m.), and Saturday, April 25 at Thornton Academy (10 a.m.).
The Noble/Sanford Co-op opened their season on April 13 on the road at Edward Little and were victorious with a score of 15-7. Ayden Lockard scored 5 goals and talllied 1 assist. AJ Anderson contributed 1 goal and three assists.
They then hosted Kennebunk on Saturday, April 22 but fell to the rams 13-7. Lockard contributed two goals. Anderson tacked on two assists.
The co-op plays Windham at home (Noble) on Wednesday, April 26 at 4:30 p.m., then travel to Wells on Saturday, April 29 to play at noon.
The Spartans opened their season at home on April 13 against Noble with a 6-4 victory. Emerson Tolpin scored four goals while Kay Hessler and Ali Long each had a goal and an assist for Sanford, the first varsity goal for Long. Lila Bernier made 10 saves.
Over break, they hosted Westbrook on Tuesday, May 18 and won their second game of the season 13-0. Tolpin scored 6 goals and tallied 1 assist. Hessler tacked on 2 goals, 1 assist and 5 draw controls. Mckenna Nanartowich also scored twice and Long, Sadie Sevigny, and Savannah Knight each scored 1 apiece.
Their final game of vacation was on the road against South Portland, where the Spartans defeated the Red Riots 8-3. Tolpin netted five goals, Sevigny added a pair of goals, and Hessler scored the other for the Spartans.
The 3-0 Spartans’ next game is on the road at Traip Academy on Thursday, April 27 at 4 p.m.
The Kennebunk-Sanford Co-op team opens their season this week. Their games are on Wednesday, April 26 at Marshwood (4 p.m.), Friday, May 28 against Gorham at home (Sanford High S hool), and host Noble at SHS on Saturday, April 29 11:00 (a.m.).
The Spartans opened their season against Falmouth on Thursday, April 13, but fell short of a victory. They then traveled to Deering on April 18, falling 4-1.
Lucas Barrow and Connor Pickering earned their first Doubles varsity win.
This week, they host Gorham on Tuesday, April 25 (4 p.m.), travel to Portland on Thursday, April 27 (4 p.m.), and travel to Biddeford on Friday, April 28 (4 p.m.).
The Spartans fell in their season opener against Falmouth 4-1 on Thursday, April 13. Olivia Guinard was the sole match winner for Sanford.
They bounced back to earn their first team win at Deering on April 18, defeating the Rams 5-0. Guinard was again victorious, along with Sydney Roux. Deering forfeited third singles. Audrey Payeur and Audrey Cote earned their first Doubles win as well as Ava Gendron and Ailey Mann.
The team travels to Gorham – USM on Tuesday, April 25 (4 p.m.) and host Portland on Thursday, April 27 (4 p.m.)
Boys Track & Field
The Sanford Boys Track & Field team opens up their season at home on Wednesday, April 26 at 4 p.m. They are also hosting a Relay Invitational at home on Saturday, April 29 at 10 a.m.
Girls Track & Field
The Sanford Girls Track & Field team opens up their season at home on Wednesday, April 26 at 4 p.m. They are also hosting a Relay Invitational at home on Saturday, April 29 at 10 a.m.
