Sanford High School is hosting both an Art Show and Spring Concert on May 11, 2023.
The Spring Concert begins at 6 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center and is free to the public. Many different grades at Sanford will come together to perform different songs. More details can be found in a preview by Sanford.org here.
The art show will be held in the SHS Agora from 5-7 p.m., so concert goers can get a sneak peek before the event begins. Art from both semesters will be showcased, and some three-dimensional work will be on display in the library. The art is on display until May 16.
“The art show is a way to display all of the incredible artwork that students at SHS have been working on all year,” said Margaret Warner from the Art Department. “We want to acknowledge and showcase the achievements of students in the Sanford High School art program.”
The artwork that will be displayed at the show was chosen by the art students and teachers. Warner hopes that each student that took art this year will choose at least one piece of artwork to display in the show.
Warner says, “That means having photos printed for the Intro to Digital Photography class, mounting and formatting two-dimensional work, preparing stands and displays for three-dimensional work, and making lots and lots of name tags.”
The art and music teachers have had several meetings to plan and set up the whole event and have spent a lot of time preparing artwork and posters for advertisement.
